The arts have always been at the center of Elizabeth Ciarfeo’s life. After receiving a business and arts degree from Trinity University and developing extensive experience in the arts sector, Elizabeth realized she could use her business acumen to help artists bring their ideas and concepts to life. However, it was not until she was responsible for producing a nonprofit event for the Artist Foundation that her true calling, Brick, came to life.
Located in Blue Star Arts Complex, Brick provides an ideal space for weddings, corporate events, art shows, performances and many other functions. With the mission to support and foster community, Brick hosts hundreds of nonprofit events each year, including markets to support local artists.
2020 was going to be Brick’s breakout year. However, like thousands of businesses around the country, Brick was severely impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. They lost many of their clients and vendors. Through LiftFund, Brick received financial support to keep the business afloat during this challenging time. “Without LiftFund, I don’t know if we would be open today,” shared Elizabeth.
Elizabeth credits her irreplaceable staff, arts enthusiast and local developer James Lifshutz, and LiftFund for Brick’s success in providing a space for up and coming local artists.
Currently, Elizabeth and her staff are working diligently to return Brick to its former glory. As a staple of the San Antonio arts community, she is working strategically to rebuild the community “one brick at a time.”
